What is the optimum way to adjust the lining trimmer mechanism?
- Cutting-height adjustment
This depends on the lining thickness. Make sure that the lining is not
pressed against the top surface of the needle plate (knife too low) and
that the knife has no play (knife too high).
- Lateral adjustment
This correct when the knife rests paralle on the needle plate but does not run hot on it.
-
Position in relation to needle
- On styles with corners and sharp inside curves:
With the needle in the needle hole in its rearmost position and
the knife is at the forward end of its stroke, the corner cutting edge
of the knife is set behind the needle by the required cutting distance.
- On styles with shallow inside and outside curves:
When the knife is at the forward end of its stroke, the corner cutting
edge is set level with the point where the needle enters the needle
plate.
